You’re probably thinking the title of this article is a typo, unfortunately, it’s not. I typically like to write about things that are fun and practical but, this barbecue dining boat from Hammacher Schlemmer was just to absurd to ignore.
I’ll admit, the built in barbecue, umbrella, and table that supports dining for 10 is a clever looking idea, the $50k price tag is where the fun goes completely wrong.
For those who don’t see money as an obstacle, you might be interested to know, this giant orange floating donut does come equipped with a 30 watt electric trolling motor, powered by four rechargeable batteries, that allow the captain to carve through calm water at a blistering 2.5 mph.
At those speeds I wouldn’t think you’d have to worry about spilling your drink or loosing a plate but, the 24” diameter steel charcoal grill is surrounded by an ABS table with recessed plate, beverage, and silverware holders to make sure everything stays in place.
Six compartments beneath the seats store food and supplies for all-day cookouts.
If you’re looking to have a fun day at the lake, enjoying lunch with friends and family, this just might be a good time but, before you breakout the checkbook, might I instead suggest – take that $50k, buy a perfectly nice non-floating picnic table, all the meat you can eat, and 10 slightly used jet skis.
At the end of the day, I’ll bet you had a little more fun.
