Summer is approaching, which means it’s almost time to break out the sunscreen, scanty bikinis, beach balls… and sunglasses fitted with tinted Instagram filter-like lenses?

You may not want to call them “shades”—after all, the Edinburgh-based company Tens asserts that their sunglasses “work with the warmth of the sun to lend an uplifting tint to the world beyond the lens.”

Whereas regular sunglasses darken the world around you, Tens give the suggestion of warmth with its brightening lenses while also protecting you from the sun. The lens offers UV400 protection and is scratch-resistant. Created with a CR-39 plastic polymer, they will be sturdy enough to last for a long time.

The company describes its product as “the real life photo filter” and is perfect for the hipster in your life who spends way too much time trying to decide which Instagram filter to use on that close up of their cat drinking out of a mug. The Tens sunglasses come in one unisex frame style (at the moment), “The Classic”—which basically resemble Ray-Ban Wayfarers. They come in four colors—black, navy, deep red, and teal.

Another good candidate these sunglasses would be right for are people who want to escape from the gloomy environs they live in. The rich colors the lenses infuse one’s surroundings with can easily brighten one’s mood.

Maybe you have nostalgic parents who want to relive the 1970s and want an affordable time machine back to when you didn’t need to choose a “retro”-style filter because, well, that’s how everything looked anyway.

Who knows, with these sunglasses, maybe you’ll never feel the need to whip out that smartphone again to snap a picture of that sunset. Maybe for once you can actually enjoy it in real time without missing it altogether due to filter-indecisiveness.

The Indiegogo campaign, which has already raised close to $500,000 (30x their modest goal), ends on June 6 and you can pre-order a pair for $60 (they offer free worldwide postage).
