A Lighter Flash Drive?

Looking for a lighter flash drive? If you’re thinking about weight, you may want to look elsewhere but, if you want a cigarette lighter with a flash drive built-in, the good folks over at ThinkGeek have just what you need.

This Zippo-style cigarette lighter is refillable and features an adjustable flame all while doubling as an 8GB USB flash drive. Don’t worry, you won’t melt your PC as the connector slides out of the lighter’s bottom, putting the flame at the opposite end.

I have to admit, I have a thing for USB devices and flash drives are certainly no exception. Something ultra portable and discreet that can store a huge chunk of my photos or music collection? Count me in.

I’m no smoker, but I do have a little bit of pyromania in my blood and I’ve also always had an affinity for sleek lighters, as it seems there are so many things that can be done to personalize them, be it through artwork, engraving or whatever, and the polished chrome finish certainly would lend itself as an engraving surface. Not being a smoker doesn’t make a lighter useless, anyway: How many times does someone “need a light,” and how many things are there out there that can be burned? With this sleek tool you can survive in the office, the wilderness, and even the fancy cocktail party. It normally sells for $49.99, but is on sale now for $39.99.

For a more “cutesy” lighter-flash drive combo, there’s an option out there called memlite. It’s refillable, plastic, comes in an assortment of colors, and features a built-in removable USB drive. Capacities range from 1 to 8GB, and prices start at €9.90 (~$14.00) and top out at €21.90 (~$30.00), before VAT, tax and shipping costs. Not really as attractive or stylish as the one offered by ThinkGeek, but I suppose if you love your Bic lighters…
