This is the droid you’re looking for, it is the droid everyone is looking for, and the Star Wars toy franchise kicks off its Super Bowl with the Sphero BB-8 droid officially going on sale today!

The cute rotating orb with a head from the first trailer for the upcoming winter blockbuster, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is not an effect.

The BB-8 is real, thanks to the inventors at Sphero.

And for a measly $150 you can control this softball-sized BB-8 droid from your smartphone.

That’s right, folks, the BB-8 is an App-enabled droid (though I think iPhone users are allowed to play with him too).

This little guy is complete with all of the chirps and bleeps that he will feature in one of the most eagerly anticipated Star Wars films of all time.

“Help me Obi-wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope,” said the Leia hologram.

How about we create our own holographic recordings with the BB-8?

Yes, the BB-8™ by Sphero does this.

Take my money please!

This semi-autonomous bot learns and changes its behavior as you play with him, or give him assignments to patrol and explore the dangerous terrain in your office all by itself.

Can I get a swirly for the boss please?

With robot qualities abound, the BB-8 uses its adaptive personality to interpret interactions and then show a range of expressions and even perk up when you give [him] voice commands.

I cannot believe this Geek Weekly dream come true is not only real, but also relatively affordable for such a kick ass robot.

The little guy’s head is not actually attached but floats on top of its circular body as it rolls.

Slamming the BB-8 droid into your co-worker’s ankle to trip him or her up can actually decapitate the BB-8.

But fear not, the BB-8 head goes easily back on, and the hour-long charge keeps the Star Wars good times rolling.

I need this now, but Disney says two weeks to ship folks!
