Touch screen controls for the iPad is what makes those Angry Birds so fun and easy to maneuver but, when it comes to hitting up up down down left right left right b a start, that’s where the tablet falls short.
So, if you’re a fan of old school gaming but need those classic controllers to play your favorite titles the way they were meant to be played, GameDock wants to be your solution.
This dock, for iOS devices, allows a couple of gamers to not only battle it out with the NES style controllers everyone knows and loves but, it also allows for full 1080p HDTV output. Simply plug the dock into your TV like you would with any other video game console, blow into the bottom of your iPhone (for realistic effect), and plug it into the dock like you would with any other video game cartridge.
Don’t have a giant HDTV? The dock supports gaming right on the iPhone or iPad screen – perfect for on-the-go or huddling in the corner of your home office.
Currently the GameDock is compatible with existing iCade apps and a host of additional games the designers at Cascadia have personally verified and added to the custom searchable app dashboard. The real hope for the game lovers behind the system is that their project will help give indie designers even more motivation to build more, better, funner games.
Surprisingly, after a few days on Kickerstarter, this clear home run of a gaming device is still just shy of hitting 25% of their overall goal. If you’d like to help move things along, you can donate as little as $1 to the cause but, it will take a pledge of at least $100 to get you a first crack at playing with the GameDock.
