EasyCap USB Review

If you want to capture your favorite TV program right to your computer without any kind of fancy video card, usbfever has the answer. The EasyCap USB2.0 audio/video adapter captures high-quality video and audio directly through your USB port all while allowing you to record in your favorite DVD formats.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of these truly useful little gadgets and it did not disappoint. The EasyCap came with its own drivers and Ulead video capturing software that had me recording tonight’s Red Sox game in about 5 minutes. All I had to do was install the driver/software, plug in the EasyCap to my digital cable box, tweak a few recording options and to my delight I was recording in no time flat.

Nothing is better when something just works the way it is supposed to and the EasyCap is no exception. For those of you who don’t have a fancy video card with all kinds of inputs or like me have your computer in a place where you just can’t hook it up to your digital cable line the EasyCap, at only $39, is a great alternative to grabbing high quality audio and video for your desk or laptop.

I set up the software and got to the stage where it reads and “captures” the recording from Sony handcam. When I try to play the captured video, I can only hear the scene and cannot see the picture. This also happens even if I save the project. What can I do to correct this. The programme seems to work for capturing, saving and burning images onto a disc. It

Who is the manufacturer and how can I get in touch? Is it possible to get a manual for the EasyCAP. I have only just acquired this dongle and after reading the various comments I am getting worried even before I have tried to use it.
I want to transfer vynil to disk and 8mm analogue to disk. The package mine came in was a plastic oyster pack with a card inserted that gave a lot of promises but no real info and no indication of manufacturer or wholesaler etc to get in touch with. Grateful for any info and thanks for all the suggestions on this page. John

Matt, the easycap will not lag your game. This is due to the fact that you connect it to your television set. However, to record your Wii you must also have three Y-adapters. Look them up. If your computer is far from your television you should purchase two double ended AV cables. Look up a guide on Youtube or search for one on Google on how to set up. It is quite simple.

  10. IF YOU CANT GET IT TO WORK READ THIS!!!!!!

I bought this so that my kids could play their handheld games on our laptops as we are moving from US to Australia and they wont work with PAL tv’s in aus.. the drivers installed fine, Im using vista 32-bit but the software was horrible. my boyfriend couldnt even get it to install on his laptop (also vista 32-bit so that made no sense) without an error message. when I tried to use it, 2 hours of messing with the settings I finally got a picture (not full screen) but no sound no matter what I tried on just the preview.. I found some advice on another site suggesting the use of AMcap to capture instead of the junk software that came with the device and as soon as I opened it, the sound worked and full screen and everything! my boyfriend tried playing his x-box on his laptop and it works perfectly other than the sound being maybe half a second off at times (hardly noticable but might annoying be if you were ripping vhs/dvd).. this might be helped by unplugging the USB extension and plugging the device directly into your computer. the only problem is AMcap is trial-ware and the full version is $30, which IMO is too much for such a simple little program and costs more than what I paid for the easycap to begin with.. Im looking into other freeware apps that work the same way.

  11. Hey everybody, if you think that the Ulead VideoStudio SE is not the best it can be, go to http://www.corel.com and buy the latest version (Ulead is now Corel) I just bought Corel VideoStudio PRO X2, and it is so cool to use.

  14. I was just wondering wether this device will work on Windows 7. Also, will this device work with only the yellow and white outputs plugged in to the tv or will i need to get some sort of av output splitter so i can use multiple things at once. (For example my xbox360, Easycap and headset) As the yellow and white outputs are the only outputs that aren’t in use on my tv.

  16. If you are having problems with sound, i suggest you do the following:

    1. Download windows Live movie maker.
2.completely erase the sound when you in movie maker.
    3. add a voice overall or music to back up your video and make it better

I have had the same problems and this works perfectly.

If you have some problems, you can email: [email protected] I sure they can help as original factory.
It seems most of the items are with software, instead of hardware?!!

This DOES work with a MAC Running Leopard (OS X 10.6+)

The software is called “EasyCapViewer for Mac” and located at http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/32004/easycapviewer

I found this, and it works on my Mac Mini, as well as my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard.

Plug it in, run the app, poof, you have video. It even has basic recording features to .MOV format.

  21. Try using a vista driver for windows 7. As far as software, Im using pinnacle 12. As far as hardware, I would even want to transfer video on a single core labtop (fsb issues)(64 bit maybe).
