In “Duck Hunt Crazy” one of the classics in on screen shooter games is back and better than ever!
One of Nintendo’s earliest titles was a popular game for the NES titled “Duck Hunt”, and eventually it would be packaged with the system, “Mario Bros.”, and a gun controller. Players proudly shot at virtual ducks on the screen with the toy gun, and there was much rejoicing.
The major drawback to the hunting was that when a player missed, the flying ducks sailed away into the horizon, and then a nasty hunter’s hound emerged from the tall reeds to put both paws over his dogged mouth and laugh raucously.
This was annoying and at times enraging for the hunter whose quarry flew away, but it was simply hilarious for the other players who waited patiently for their turn to come. And they rejoiced jubilantly.
The “Duck Hunt Crazy” App climbed to number three on the Top Free Games in the Apple App Store, and for good reason: the ducks, the dog, and the hunt is back . . . but now there are multiple types of weapons to utilize.
The “Duck Hunt Crazy” game functions, plays, and looks just like the classic, but it is a bit more graphically refined. The music and sound effects (of laughing, and flapping, etc.) are also extremely similar to the NES title.
The controls require that thumbs pressed to the screen drop flying birds like a bad habit. Touching the screen exactly where the birds are does require a bit of getting used to, like the old one did, because practice allows for the hunter to lead the shot and get the would-be escapee in mid-flight.
Player start out in a classic stage, but there are more challenging night boards that alter the play. And you start out with shotguns, Gatling guns, and eventually a Lightsaber can be unlocked to slice and dice the potential duck stew! And you can shoot the dog now!
