Add Some Style and Class to That Growing Video Game Collection

Being a gamer nowadays isn’t really a social stigma, but after a certain age people might start raising an eyebrow at your video game collection. Rather than having to explain your habits, why not cleverly disguise them as books? After all, most people appreciate and respect a person who has done a lot of reading.

Designer, James Bit, created these highbrow video game covers “to bring that virtual world back to life” in order to fit a more “mature” lifestyle. The camouflaging jackets emulate the bindings of classic Penguin books, with a few tweaks: Instead of the penguin logo, there’s a joystick and of course replacing the “Penguin Books” title is “James Bit Books.” Everything else about the design is pretty much identical. Of course, the colors weren’t added to the Penguin Book classics until a little later, but hey, nitpick.

Penguin Covers for Comparison

Aside from the reference, the design itself makes a lot of organizational sense. The titles are easy to read, making organizing and accessing your video game collection a breeze. Not to mention the added sophisticated style will double as a great conversation starter and centerpiece for your room.

You can purchase a set of 3 for $6 at Etsy, but James can fulfill any order request. In order to receive these custom covers you’ll need to email the game titles and which consoles they are for.

Now, here’s the kicker… you’ll only receive a PDF of the design so you’ll need a color printer at home (or office) to get the full effect of the covers. After it’s printed, simply slip them into your game case and you’re good to go.

If you’re adept at Photoshop you could probably create one of these covers yourself. However, if you don’t want to spend the time or you don’t have the talent, it’s a small price to pay for style.

Great idea BUT all of my Xbox games have fluorescent green cases. This guy would be smart to find some cheap color appropriate cases and sell the whole package.

  2. Perfect for my white cased Wii games, not so hot for my Xbox titles. He should sell the template for $10 and let people make as many as they need. He would make more money up front and save himself a ton of labor.
