SnapRays DIY Guidelight — No Wiring, No Batteries, No Electrician Required

Nightlights burn out, break, take up a valuable outlet slot, and have style that reeks of Grandma’s house. You could go with hardwired guide lights but, unless you know what you’re doing, you’re going to be paying a professional $100/hr to get you a look that isn’t all that much better.

Introducing, SnapRays, the outlet-cover-replacing-nightlight that installs in just seconds.

SnapRays are designed to look just like your standard style outlet cover but, unlike a standard cover, this stealthy gadget comes equipped with three barely noticeable LED’s to provide stylish light when it gets dark. The best part is, if you can use a screwdriver, you can do it yourself!

Turn off the power, remove the existing outlet cover, replace with SnapRays — done.

How does it work? Two little tabs on the backside of the SnapRay slide around the exposed power screws on the sides of the outlet. It’s so simple that everyone reading this just wondered why no one thought of it sooner.

What’s maybe even more impressive is that the LED lights last up to 25 years and cost less than 10 cents per year to run.

There is one slight drawback, SnapRays are not compatible with GFCI outlets (the ones with the test and reset button) because they do not have the same exposed power strip and screws on the side of the outlet. Why is this important? Because, if you’re like me, the places you’d want to install these the most (under my kitchen cabinets and near my bathroom sink) are the same places you’d be likely to find a GFCI outlet.

SnapRays are available in duplex and decor styles with your choice of white, almond, or ivory. You can help support the cause, that has blown away its $12,000 goal by raising over $265,000 on Kickstarter, and score your own for about $12 a pop in packs ranging from 3-10 covers.
