Sinful Robot Takes Virtual Pornography to A Whole New, Weirder Level

Its not necessarily sex that sells, it’s the virtual representation of sex that sells. It’s the promise of sex. It’s the age-old carrot on a fishing rod. But this representation has always been a few key dimensions away from fully satisfying our seemingly insatiable erotic desires.

The porno mags of yesteryear are an oxidized, decaying relic featuring one dimensional glamazons and tropical locales – locales that vastly contrasted the drab, locker-room aura of your teenage bedroom. Because that’s the thing about pornography: it’s not at all real sex. You don’t have to preform, you don’t have to be “good” at it. You can be literally anything you want.

Then came the Internet and changed the face – and bodies – of pornography forever. And with faster and faster Internet speeds, you can find anything that might suite whatever fantasies you might have. Now pornography can add another dimension with Sinful Robot, a new start up based in Irvine, California that will use virtual reality to create what could be one of the most immersive erotic encounters.

Remember that scene in Demolition Man where Sandra Bullock’s character is in her 2032 AD apartment and she asks Sylvester Stallone’s character if he wants to have sex? He replies, “With you…Here? Now?” and she answers, “Mm…hm, yes.” And he gets really excited and she whips out two virtual reality helmets. That is sort of what Sinful Robot is like.

The erotic experience will be presented on the Oculus Rift headset, which is one of the very first fully immersive virtual reality sets available to consumers. It features full 3D stereoscopic vision and one-on-one, highly-accurate 9DOF sensors that accurately track every movement in order to “locate you in the center of the action, the ecstatic epicenter of play.”

The Oculus Rift, which blew past its $250,000 dollar goal to 2.4 million on Kickstarter, was initially made for video games and is getting rave reviews from gamers hailing it’s revolutionary virtual reality wonders. Now that Sinful Robot – whose headquarters is about a 15 minute drive away from the Rift’s – is utilizing the headset for it’s more twisted, pornographic ambitions. But that is all to be expected. Sinful Robot might sell more Oculus Rift headsets based on the sheer demand of things like the Fleshlight and Tenga. Combine the two and you might never see some people again.

Sinful Robot on the Oculus Rift is still in its start up phase and will be available sometime in early 2014. They are currently looking for 3D environment artists and 3D character artists. So if you’d like to move to Orange County and become a virtual pornographer, a possible land of opportunity awaits.

I’m excited for the future if for no other reason than next level porn. Am I right? Just me? Whatever.
