HTC Touch, iPhone 2.0?
Today HTC announced the launch of “Touch,” a Windows Mobile 6 Pro phone. Mobile device resembles the Apple iPhone somewhat and includes some great features. It allows you to touch it with either your finger or a stylus, and depending on which you use, it will react differently.
The Touch features a unique menu system, which reminds me of beryl for linux and is accessible by swiping your finger across the screen either vertically or horizontally. The tech specs of the phone include a 2.0-megapixel camera, 2.8″ touch-screen LCD, up to 5 hours talk time, and wireless connectivity via GSM/GPRS/EDGE tri-band: 900, 1800, 1900, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) as well as Bluetooth 2.0. That was a mouth full.
The phone is available in the UK currently and will be released in Europe/Asia later this month. A US launch is planned for late this 2007, which could be too late as the iPhone should have the majority of market share by that time.
