Just when you thought that there were enough extra gizmos and doodads for the iPhone and iPod Touch, one European company has released the ultimate in wearable gadget accessories. Say hello… or WTF… to WTFJeans.
The jeans, which are being produced in limited supply of 1000 pairs, are specially designed to hold and protect your portable gadgets, particularly Apple’s popular touchables — special pockets are designed to hold the toys snugly and feature microfiber lining to protect the devices from scratches and clean them when they’re taken out.
Don’t have either one? WTFJeans may still be right for you, whether you’re a guy or a girl, as they protect (or show off) your own personal touchables. iPhones and iPods aren’t the only things protected, as the mens’ version features extra padding to protect the family jewels; the womens’ version features Sexyass™ (that’s right, it’s trademarked), so that “the pockets … are positioned in such a way to make your ass stand out in a crowd whether you’re slim or big.” Meaning that the guys aren’t going to be poking your iPod. “Never been groped? There’s always a first time.”

There’s a virtually limitless world of iPhone apps out there today, ranging from the extremely useful to the outlandishly inane.
The world’s greatest beverage hasn’t escaped the iPhone’s pull, either. While some of the gadget’s beery apps are worthless for anything but a laugh and even downright demeaning—come on, I don’t want to pretend I’m drinking a beer!—others are decidedly more useful. One such example is GreatBrewers.com’s BeerCloud.
Great Brewers describes BeerCloud for the iPhone thusly:
“BeerCloud is a revolutionary mobile app that helps you pair beer with food, track down your favorite beers in your neighborhood, discover the world of beer styles, and pull up a full description of nearly any beer in seconds. Whether you’re a beer consumer who could use some guidance in making a well-educated purchase, a food lover looking to discover new ways to enhance a meal with a complementary beer pairing, or a traveling beer enthusiast who wants to instantly map the closest stores, bars, and restaurants carrying your favorite beers, BeerCloud is an essential iPhone app.”

If you’ve plunked down any chunk of change for mobile devices (who hasn’t, right?), then you’re undoubtedly familiar with the frustration of protecting your shiny goodies from the big dirty world outside. Which explains why the market is so flooded with protective gear these days — stickers for your computer, wallets for your phone, rubber placemats for keyboards… the whole of technology’s going condom. The trick is in finding the right kind of protection; earlier this year I excitedly bought the Andy Warhol leather case for my iPod on the go, but quickly realized it was more trouble than it was worth — the full-protection meant I couldn’t see the display without unclasping the whole unit, it doubled the size of the iPod so it felt more like a brick than a sleek jukebox, and using the controls was mostly dumb luck of “maybe the forward button is here…”. The sticker-covers seemed like a good idea too, until I realized it a) didn’t cover the whole iPod and b) left a horrible gunk behind after being removed, which sort of defeated the whole purpose. So hooray for the folks over at Shades Cases for sending over some Shades iPod Cases so that we could test drive them to discover a great new case.
And make no mistake, these cases were put to the full test — out for exercising, around the countryside corn fields, swimming around in a messenger bag full of sharp objects, thrown around the car and temporarily lost under the seat, even subject to the horrors of a cluttered living room where things regularly were piled atop the iPod. The travel shows on the case (that I haven’t gotten around to actually cleaning), but the iPod within remains gloriously unscratched. The Shades Cases are low-maintenance wonders that let you slide your iPod in and out of the snug case easily via a narrow opening in the base that doubles for charging/USB access.
Even better, you’ve got options! Not only do the micro-thin weightless plastic cases come in a rainbow of color options (not to worry, the screen section is always a thin clear shield), but they’re also available in all of your favorite sizes for the iPod Classic, Video, Nano 3G and 2G, Photo, and 4G/CW with iPhone cases expected in the next month. For $14.95-$16.95 (with a “3 for the price of 2″ deal currently running on the manufacturer’s site), it’s an absolute deal and perfect way to appreciate the sleek design of your iPod while keeping its surface unharmed.
Now if they’d only create something similar for laptops…

The latest Steve Jobs masterpiece, the iPhone, has yet to hit the shelves and already the aftermarket accessories game has begun. I try and stay away from writing about every single Apple accessory that hits the market because…well most of them stink. I mean who needs a barbeque grill docking station for your iPod? Yet, the new iPhone iShield looks like a nice, simply stated, practical, cover for the soon to be popular iPhone.
The iShield is a hard shell with the feel of leather that is sure to keep you styling all while protecting your $500 investment. I for one am not a fan of protecting my electronics like the plastic covering grandmas couch but, this barely there cover is a nice happy medium between no protection and over fortification.
