The polished silver cufflinks from Brookstone offer up style and suave, but since when do they also wield a 2GB USB flash drive and Wi-Fi hot spot?

Daniel Craig, also known as James Bond in certain diplomatic spy circles, wants his prototype ASAP!

The sexy and shiny oval cufflinks split open to reveal USB thumb drives that are compatible with any sort of computer, tablet, or even iPhone.

It is only in the rarest of cases that fashion and technical gadgetry can be one and the same (for an exception to the rule, see the late Steve Job’s turtleneck for a way to keep the neck warm and the head primed for genius thoughts and technical dreams). Too often the wearer’s look is sacrificed for function, but this is far from the case with Brookstone’s newest release: the Polished Silver Oval Wi-Fi and 2GB USB Cufflinks.

Go to the board meeting or gold bullion exchange looking lean and mean, not to mention badass, with the USB Cufflinks helping to not only take care of the shirt sleeves, but also the Wi-Fi needs of the iPad in hand and the computer on the table through the ‘links’ secretly stowed wireless hot spot.

Goldfinger will not understand how, having stripped Bond of all of his gadgets, he could still tap into the database with only the use of an inept guard’s iPod Touch and escape his death ray device.

These cufflinks come with software to commandeer any wireless device and utilize an Internet connection, while still keeping the wearer looking dressed to kill at an upper-class ball, office party, or political inauguration.

Two hundred and fifty dollars is expensive but worth the cost for the polished silver cufflinks on their own, and now they provide the hardware for anyone to complete Mission Impossible.

Once a niche product for corporate presentation rooms and college lecture halls, mini Bluetooth keyboards have also become indispensable gadgets for gamer and home theater enthusiasts alike. Portable, versatile, and- best of all- cordless, these pocket input devices become increasingly more useful as one adds to their tech collection.

A shining example of a bargain Bluetooth keyboard is the Rii Mini Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard which will set you back about $30.00 and set you up with everything you need to command your home theatre PC, iPad, and Playstation 3. Combining a standard QWERTY keyboard (complete with function keys!) along with a responsive touchpad, mouse click buttons, and a laser pointer into a sleek-yet-sturdy 6” x 2 ¼” form factor is no easy task, but the Rii Mini accomplishes it handily.

Speaking of hands, those with larger mitts need not worry about their ability to navigate the Rii Mini. At 6’5” with gigantic hands to match, I have no problems gliding my large, stubby fingers over the keyboard which is- as an added bonus- nicely backlit with the press of a single button on the top left of the unit. This optional backlighting is clear enough to make the keyboard visible in a dark room, but isn’t bright enough to distract your eyes during a movie, meeting, or lecture.

Those considering the Rii Mini for home usage may find the laser pointer superfluous, but I found it quite useful in entertaining my energetic puppy from the comfort of my couch. Although it depletes the battery life rather quickly, the laser pointer is a nice feature to have on the keyboard even if you only use it once. Although, if you are reading this site, you’re probably the type of person who will actively find uses for a laser pointer once they know it’s built in their keyboard and we love you for that.

Less capricious users will find a host of other well thought out features added to the Rii Mini’s layout, such as the built-in dock for its tiny USB dongle or the ability to send a CTRL+ALT+DELETE command with a two-button keystroke (FN + Enter). Whether you intend to use the Rii Mini at home, in front of classroom full of students, or to help managers navigate the tech setup in your conference room, you will not find yourself wanting more out of this little, versatile wonder.

Charge two USB powered devices simultaneously with the amazing iGeek Portable Battery Pack for less than seventy dollars!

We’ve all been there: the last connecting flight has another five hours left before the flier can leave their state of suspended animation, and the battery on the smartphone dies. Ouch!

Not only will a string of uttered curses not achieve anything beyond an Alec Baldwin-like ejection from the airline of your choice, but it is entirely unnecessary thanks to the geniuses over at iGeek.

Merely plug the iPhone into the Pack and watch it fire back up, like a newly deceased corpse turned zombie in a Romero film.

The cruise’s exotic locales might not have electric plugs at every stop, but the pocket-sized Pack is only as big as a small modem and can energize an iPod Touch for up to fifty hours of music blasting.

The iGeek Battery Pack deserves a round of applause. This intriguing device contains a lithium ion battery (with 9900 maH capacity at 5v output voltage) that is not only badass in and of itself, but even more impressive is that the Pack does not discriminate between which devices it will charge.

The iGeek Battery Pack charges nearly anything with a USB port, and that includes iPads, Droids, Nooks, iPods, Blackberries, and even portable gaming systems like the Nintendo DS.

An iPad 2 might be heavy on the battery, what with the gorgeous screen’s depiction of Shaun of the Dead cricket bat swinging, but worry not; the iGeek Battery Pack offers seventeen additional hours!

I’m not sure if comfortable blogging is what the guys at IOGEAR had in mind when they created the GKM581R 2.4GHz Wireless Keyboard but, I can attest that I am in fact comfortable and well…

What I do know is IOGEAR has really put time into designing a truly ergonomic lap keyboard that makes controlling my media center, from across the room, surprisingly easy. You can almost feel the user testing and design decisions in your hand – it just works.

Setup, was a breeze (as it should be) and I was up and running in just a few minutes after plugging in the USB RF receiver, installing the necessary driver, and attaching the charging cable. It is recommended that the included NiMH batteries be charged for a full 24 hours the first time around so, prepared to be tethered, unless you have an extra set of AA’s laying around.

After just a few minutes the built in scroll wheel, two button mouse, and optical trackball make precision control seem like second nature. Which was a bit surprising since the somewhat average 3 star rating on Amazon seemed to stem from a lack of love for the tackball mechanism. Maybe it’s just years of gaming that has honed my freakishly good eye hand coordination or my general disdain for crappy trackpads but, this trackball definitely works for me.

The 2.4GHz wireless connection, works flawlessly with a good line of sight at 15 feet but, it should be noted that I do experience occasional drops when something like a pillow or a blanket gets in the way. IOGEAR says the bi-directional technology is good up to 33 feet but unfortunately, my living room is not that big.

As an added bonus, the keyboard can also be used with popular gaming consoles (where typing with a controller is typically a chore) such as the Wii, Xbox, and the PS3. Although, only the PS3 takes full advantage of the mouse-like click and scroll features.

All in all, for only $39 on sale at Amazon, I couldn’t be more happy. That old media center PC I had sitting in storage now has new life in my living room with the IOGEAR GKM581R.

Who wants to fumble around looking for a massager when they’re hard at work or maybe, say… watching a movie on the computer? The new Hedgehog massaging mouse from Brando is a solution right at the tip of your fingers for those times you’re engaged in the perfect scene and have a knot you just have to rub out on the spot.

This pleasure producing pink (or blue) mouse is fully powered by its USB connection so you never have to worry about running out of juice at an importune time and the removable silicone based rubber knobby cover is completely washable so you can get it as dirty as you want.

We all know it’s the thought that counts and nothing says tons of thought like a pink vibrating washable mouse. For just under 20 bucks you can have a perfect little gift for that special friend.

For those of you who are not aware, LED lighting is the future. The amazingly bright LEDs use very little power and last somewhere close to forever.

Many new laptops (especially the Macs, which only have two) are slimming down their design by eliminating USB ports. So nearly every desk now has two fundamental needs for computing: light and more USBs outlets.

Welcome the SIIG AC-H40112-S1 USB LED Lamp w/4-Port USB 2.0 Hub!

Yes the product’s name is uncannily long, but the SIIG LED Lamp’s benefits far outweigh the ridiculousness of the name. This LED Lamp is sleek, stylish and bright, as only a USB cable powers it.

Wait a second…what?! A USB cable powers a blindingly bright LED Lamp and expands the computers USB 2.0 capacity by four? That is amazing! And it looks good!

The SIIG LED Lamp is a flex light, just like the old time desk lamps of yore, and it stretches to be nearly a foot tall when taut. The base is three and a third inches in diameter and provides the insanely easy to use USB hubs.

For just under twenty-five bucks (at NewEgg.com), the SIIG LED Lamp can be yours to impress your ladies by desk light. The unit can also be powered by AAA batteries, so it is portable, and it is environmentally friendly (which can be a HUGE turn-on for those green ladies, who like my girlfriend, are conscious of responsible power usage).

Enjoy the light!

It’s easy to take movies on the go. How about 200 movies? Well, that’s not that easy — yet.

Paramount says they plan to stuff movies into the new Seagate FreeAgent Go 500GB hard drive for easy transport. Just don’t expect to get every Paramount movie ever made — or even all of your favorites. Instead, the device will come preloaded with options for 21 specific movies, as well as a free offer to get the recent Star Trek reboot.

Now the bad news: Star Trek will be a freebie, but you’ll have to pay for a license key to unlock the rest. Once they hook you with the magical powers and special effects of Star Trek, you can choose from other titles including The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, GI Joe, Ghost, Jackass 2.5, and The Italian Job, among others. Pay between $9.99 to $14.99 per title, and each purchased movie will be licensed for use multiple devices.

This is one of the more interesting studio moves I’ve seen lately. So many seem wrapped up with trying new and interesting ways to get content to consumers. I like it. Seagate says that the device could technically hold up to 200 movies, which makes it an interesting option.

The FreeAgent 500GB is available now for $99.99 on the Seagate website. It’s available elsewhere too, just not with the movie option. It should hit shelves fairly soon, so keep your eyes peeled for the specially marked packages.

Much larger then the printers that they are so often attached to… not a good thing if you happen to be light on space, which many of us are both at the office and at home. Not to mention that they are heavy to carry around. If you want to stay away from the back strain, and clear up some space for your other needs then you may want to consider getting your hands onto the Fujitsu ScanSnap S3100 Portable Scanner. It can give you what you need without all of the waste. This thing is small enough to fit into a briefcase.

Think that a smaller scanner can’t give you what you want? Well this one comes with a robust set of features. It has the ability to scan to standard images as well as a variety of other formats. It can scan directly to a PDF, which is perfect for sending business documents. It can also scan directly into Microsoft Excel , which allows you to input data into your spreadsheet on the fly. No stress and no mess.

If you are worried about the speed of this mini-scanner then you will be pleased to know that this baby can take on up to 8 double-sided color pages per minute. Admittedly, this does not make it the fastest model on the market, but it does provide a fair rate for most users and probably even a few small offices.

Speaking of your office, if your office is a cross platform one you may find a lot of problems with buying devices, but this will save you some trouble since it is cross platform compatible. So both Windows and Mac based PC users will be able to use it without any stress or fuss. Something that makes both end users and system admins happy. Not to mention anyone who has to setup this device at home.

The machine can be powered either by the AC power cord or by a USB cord, which is good news if you are on the go with a laptop. Just be aware that this model may give you some sticker shock as it will set you back $295 to get your hands on one.

Christmas came a little early for me this year in the form of a 23 inch widescreen monitor I bought for myself a couple of weeks ago and I just wouldn’t have felt right if I didn’t take the time to share it with you. Like most of you, I have been using what I thought was a great little flat screen LCD for the past few years and was totally happy with it… that was until I unboxed this widescreeny goodness.

The HP w2338h full HD monitor truly is one of those things that you don’t know how much you need until you actually have it. From the casual everyday computer user to the full time online worker like myself this sleek and stylish monitor really makes everyday online use a joy and much more productive.

I apologize for not getting this message to you sooner but, there is still time left if you want to pick up one of these at amazon.com. The cheapest price I could find around, with one day shipping for $225 and I couldn’t think of a better gift. If you would rather see it for yourself, my local BestBuy still has a few in stock and if you get the chance, you will not be disappointed. The picture is clear, the HDMI input cuts down on the wires cluttered behind your desk, and the ability to watch widescreen movies right through netflix at your desk is worth the price alone.

For those of you who like the geeky details take a look at the specs below and for those of you who just want to know in layman’s terms like me… this monitor is awesome and the price is so affordable that I was instantly sold. Its not often that someone as picky as me is blown away by a product but for the price, this is hands down the best purchase I made for myself all year long.

I don’t know whether to embrace or run away from this stylish USB & FireWire combination hub by LaCie. What looks like robo-tentacles are actually 4 USB ports, 2 FireWire ports, a USB fan, a USB light and both a USB and FireWire extension cable affixed to flexible cable “arms.”

I think my favorite part is the fan. Are people really getting *that* hot while working at their computers? Couldn’t they just layer or turn down the heat? Maybe a cool glass of water could do the trick? Clearly, I don’t get the appeal of the USB personal fan, but it seems to be a pretty standard USB gadget.

Seriously though, this is an extremely sleek and very multi-functional hub that’s sure to impress Apple lovers (for whom everything must be white) and design aficionados. It kind of reminds me of the camera-ball device from 12 Monkeys, or something built by the Kaminoans (the really tall aliens responsible for building the clone army in Star Wars). It retails for$89.99 on the LaCie site.

The orb-hub was designed exclusively for LaCie by Paris-based Ora-Ïto, the same designer behind the company’s golden hard drives and lego-brick drives.
