Keep Comfortable While On The Phone

If you talk on the phone an awful lot like I do, you’ll know how sore your arm gets, and how it feels like it’s about to fall off after exceptionally long calls.

Eliminate this feeling for good with one of the most unusual “Gadgets” I’ve seen for a while, the “All-Sound-Catch Cubic Pillow”.

The All-Sound-Catch Cubic Pillow is simply a cushion which allows you to place your home phone inside it, letting you lie down while resting your head on the pillow so you can talk for extended periods of time without holding the phone.

It doesn’t look particularly comfortable, nor does it look like it’ll take the world by storm but, if you’re frequently on the phone it might just be what you’re after.

ballmer-2.jpgTUAW has picked up on a quote Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer recently laid out in the open regarding Apple’s iPhone.

“There’s no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance. It’s a $500 subsidized item. They may make a lot of money. But if you actually take a look at the 1.3 billion phones that get sold, I’d prefer to have our software in 60 percent or 70 percent or 80 percent of them, than I would to have 2 percent or 3 percent, which is what Apple might get.”

I believe Apple is going to stomp Ballmers claim that they will only dominate 2-3% of the market. Apple saw an opening where they could improve in the MP3 market which they proceeded to take over with the iPod, this time they’ve spotted another weak link in the market - a much larger market, cellphones.

I’m looking forward to seeing what Apple has in store for us to completely re-invent the mobile industry, just like they did with the iPod.

apple iphoneIn Steve Jobs quest to rule the world Apple is jumping into another new market with their heavily awaited iPhone. The new phone is a touted to be more than a mobile phone with its widescreen iPod, 2 megapixel camera, and an internet communications device. The internet interface allows for desktop style email, web browsing, maps, and searching all right inside your phone. I wouldn’t exactly call this a “smartphone” as you can not install your own software as of yet but, Apple seems to really give what you need in this compact razor thin work of art. The new iPhone is set to come in two models, an 8 GB ($599) and 4 GB ($499). Action photos after the jump…

samsung-SPH-P9000Today Samsung Electronics unveiled the latest in mobile convergence devices, the SPH-P9000 Deluxe MITs at Mobile WiMAX Summit 2006. Users will have wireless access to the Internet utilizing Mobile WiMAX connectivity. Simultaneously, the CDMA EV-DO technology provides mobile phone connection for voice communication. With Microsoft Windows XP as the operating system, users will find the contents and applications familiar and easy to use for work and play.

This new puzzle of a gadget is chalked full of cool stuff including a 30 GB hard drive, 1.3 MP camera, 5” LCD, 1 GHz CPU, full qwerty keyboard, and all of that in a package that weighs a mere 1.3 lbs. This is pretty awesome technology, one that I think could only be made better by that third transformer like LCD panel unfolding into three more mini LCD’s making for a nice 20” screen. I don’t know how you can utilize a full keyboard on a 5” screen but then again my eyesight is not 20/20.

Don’t pull out your checkbook just yet the Samsung SPH-P9000 is not set to roll out in Korea until early 2007. More photos after the jump…
