I have never been so unfortunate as to have my cellphone drop into the toilet but, have heard countless tales of people who have lost it all in, what must be, the most demoralizing way possible. With their new WaterBlock technology, and your brave hand, HzO will make sure you never have to feel that pain again.

HzO’s WaterBlock technology protects all kinds of valuable electronics from humidity, rain, and even total water submersion. Unlike bulky waterproof cases, this invisible coating protects delicate circuitry at a molecular level, from the inside out – no need to worry about plugging up charging ports or headphone jacks.
The waterproof coating is created by placing any device or material into a vacuum chamber and replacing the typical atmospheric gases with an organic gas that builds up a solid thin film through a secret magical proprietary process.

Xbox Kinect isn’t just for controlling digital gaming characters anymore.

The self described geniuses at Chaotic Moon have taken a motorized longboard and put it on geek steroids with a Xbox Kinect, Samsung Windows 8 tablet, phidget interface module, and all terrain tires – because they can.
The aptly named “Board of Awesomeness” utilizes video and speech recognition along with location and accelerometer data to allow riders complete control of the board without the aid of any other controllers (and while only looking mildly crazy).

SolarFocus, makers of flexible solar chargers for mobile devices of all types, will be debuting the first solar powered Kindle cover at CES this week.
The SolarKindle cover takes the already paperless green nature of the Kindle to the next level by providing up to 3 months of unplugged use with just a “normal sunlight environment.”
Charging times do vary depending on the weather but, the guys at SolarFocus say one hour of charge time in direct sunlight can provide almost three days of reading time.
After charging the on-board e-reader, the SolarKindle automatically switches over to charge a built-in 1500 mA battery used to power the swing out LED reading light and provide extra power for the Kindle.

I don’t know how they do it. One can only assume that somewhere there are a bunch of talented tiny little people, with teeny little hands, and mini pocket sized tools churning out some of the coolest cufflinks we’ve ever seen.
The company is called YOU gNeek and they specialize in making all kinds of miniature jewelry in vintage, modern, and geeky styles. Their tiny vintage looking lighter cufflinks are a working piece of art perfect for any guy looking to make a fashion statement or keep a conversation starter on his sleeve.

Measuring 7/8” high and 3/4” wide, these gumball style lighters require a steady hand and some common sense for those brave enough to attempt a light while wearing them (there is actually a warning doc that advises against this – good times).
For you knife aficionado’s YOU gNeek has also create a set of tiny working stainless mini knives. Yes, they are sharp and yes, they are dangerous. The blade is about 9/16”, most likely hard to hold, and perfectly capable of cutting open a package.

With all of our newfangled 21st century technology, there is little casual physical activity left for humans to do. Christmas shopping from the comfort of our homes, robots that mow our lawn, sitting at a desk all day and calling it “work,” we no longer even have to leave the house to return our movie rentals. What little daily exercise we still get might come from a leisurely stroll or quick walk to grab lunch but, if Peter Treadway has his way, spnKiX will make the act of walking so 2011.

spnKiX are battery powered, remote controlled, motorized personal mobility skates that you can strap onto any pair of shoes. They are powered by lithium batteries (which take a couple of hours to charge), have a top speed of up to 10mph (depending on how fat you already are), and have a range of up to 3 miles.

To fully understand this review you first need to understand that watering the Christmas tree is second only to raking leaves on my list of least favorite seasonal chores. Getting down on my knees and fighting through a pile of gifts, only to spill water all over the floor kills my already tiny Christmas spirit. Enter my new Holiday savior, the Smart TreeKeeper.

Smart TreeKeeper is watering system that finally makes the experience of caring for the Christmas tree a joyous one. By elegantly solving the problem of how to water, with a low tech hose and funnel, and when to water, with a high tech music-playing-water-level-checking-device, the guys at LandMarc have effectively solved two simple problems that give me one big headache.
To get things up and running all you have to do is simply attach the included 3 ½ feet of hose to the green ornament -ish funnel, run it down the trunk to the stand, attach it to the tree next to the magical red box with the included Velcro strap, and enjoy watering your tree without crawling around like a drunken dog.

Apparently the theme at Gadizmo this week is, how much fun can you have in the water before you die a horrific death. Earlier this week we had the FlyBoard Jetpack ready to either take you on the ride of your life or straight to your watery grave and today we have the Abyss Board where this time, it’s your friends who will get the chance to permanently send you to the bottom of the sea.

The Abyss Board is being called a “revolutionary new water sport” that allows users to fly underwater while being towed behind a boat. I’m pretty sure Pirates also had a name for this “water sport” and it was called keelhauling.
If you can trust your friends to steer clear of obstacles and underwater rock formations, while keeping the boat towing at the nice safe recommended top speed of 10mph, you too can dive, barrel roll, carve, and glide like Goose from an underwater version of Top Gun. Video after the jump…

Traxxas, the makers of speedy ready-to-run RC cars, boats, and planes have a new gun in it’s arsenal, the XO-1 Supercar.

The new 1/7th scale speed demon uses a brushless electric motor and LiPo batteries to get from 0 to 100mph in under 5 seconds! Don’t get too excited yet, at 8.6lbs, this 27inch rocket ship is a $1100 explosion waiting to happen. In other words, this toy isn’t for the inexperienced. Video after the jump…

The problem with green personal transportation, as far as I am concerned, is that there is nothing sexy about any of today’s options. What good are those hundreds of miles to the gallon if no one wants to drive it? Today at the Tokyo Motor Show Yamaha looked to change all of that with it’s new Y125 MOEGI concept.

This retro beach cruiser style bike sports a super efficient polished 125cc four-stroke motor capable of of taking riders a cool 150 miles, in style, with one tank of gas. This 176lb work of art also features fuel injection, a four speed transmission, belt drive, and LED lights.
Although beautiful, the general simplicity of the design and four-stroke engine means the Y125 will be cheap to both run and maintain. That practicality accompanied by the undeniable style makes it easy to see a future where mass adoption of this green two wheeler could be a real possibility.
Unfortunately, this is all still a conceptual dream but, I can’t imagine anything but positive feedback driving something Y125-like into a not too distant Christmasey future.
